Since 2012 I have been developing intermedia concepts to empower young people with art.
How do you hear images? How can a space be translated, a color set to music, a surface or mood transformed into sound? What memories, atmospheres, and inner images arise when viewing an artwork, and how can these be made audible? Sounding the Collection invites participants to explore the Berlinische Galerie’s collection from an auditory perspective. Together with the artists Bea Targosz, Laura Mello, Özcan Ertek, and Andrei Cucu, participants develop experimental sound compositions that reinterpret and expand upon selected artworks and exhibition spaces. The workshop focuses on the connection between perception, space, and sound.
SonONOlux is experimental film-music-sound project by Eunice Martins and Laura Mello for children aged 6+, teenagers, and adults, regardless of musical experience. We experiment with and organize sound in time. As a dynamic score, we use experimental films from the Arsenal Institute for Film and Video Art archive, as well as specially created films or ad hoc improvised overhead projections. The result culminates either in a film concert with newly recorded live music or a screening presentation of the outcome. The project is offered in a multi-week rhythm or as a project week.
